What makes a Premier Show different at Lovegood?

Premier is where we raise the performance bar and invite artists across the community to meet it.

At Lovegood, everyone involved is a student—whether you’re in a class or in a Mainstage production. We’re always building artists and every stage.

A Premier Show is different because it’s built with a different purpose.

1) It’s open to the wider community:

Most of what we do is designed primarily for the Lovegood student community.

A Premier Show opens the door wider—inviting performers from across the community to step into the room and be part of something special.

2) The goal is a more polished, professional-level performance:

This isn’t “class-as-a-show,” and it’s not training-first.

A Premier Show is designed to feel closer to a professional performance environment—more refined, more production-driven, and more focused on the final product.

3) It’s not an educational / tuition track:

Premier isn’t built around the usual “tuition supports training + environment” model.

It’s a different lane: the focus is the production itself, not an educational pathway. There is no production fee for participating in a premier production.

4) More autonomy, more artistic responsibility

Because the emphasis is on a higher level of artistry, Premier gives performers more autonomy—and that comes with more ownership: deeper personal preparation; stronger individual accountability;
more responsibility to bring choices, craft, and consistency; a collaborative, professional rehearsal room mindset. Mainstage is an  educational production. Premier is a more professional pace and expectation. Premier is where we raise the performance bar and invite artists across the community to meet it.
