At Lovegood, we believe in Theatre at Every Stage, and we’re opening more doors than ever—from workshops and skill building classes, to Mainstage productions and new improv teams that carry their work beyond the classroom. Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been on stage for years, this is your moment to step in, invest in the craft, and create something beautiful together. Any student aged 18+ who does not have a current background check on file with Lovegood, will be required to consent to and pass a background check prior to class starting. There is a separate $25 fee payable directly to the background check provider due at the time of consent. Background checks expire after 2 years.
Kidz Mainstage Musical
(Ages 6-10)

Lovegood is excited to introduce Kidz Mainstage, a new performance opportunity created specifically for students ages 6–10.
Participants will experience the excitement of being a part of a fully produced, ticketed Mainstage musical, complete with costumes, hair and makeup, sets, lighting, and performances for a live audience. Students will learn the foundations of musical theatre while developing confidence, creativity, teamwork, and strong performance skills in an encouraging environment.
To better support our youngest performers and their families, rehearsals will be held during the day on Saturdays, avoiding the late evening rehearsal schedule often required for a Mainstage production.
Our inaugural Kidz Mainstage production will be A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS, a joyful and heartwarming musical celebrating friendship, adventure, and the changing seasons. Based on Arnold Lobel’s beloved books, the show follows cheerful Frog and cautious Toad through a year of memorable moments together.
This program is a wonderful next step for young performers who are ready to grow their skills and experience the magic of a complete theatrical production.
Improv (Ages 10+)
Mondays | September 7 - November 16, 2026
Youth (10-18): 6:00–7:30 PM
Adult (18+): 7:30–9:00 PM
Build confidence, creativity, and quick-thinking skills through the art of improvisation. This skill building class introduces students to the essential tools of improv, including active listening, collaboration, character development, storytelling, and learning to confidently respond in the moment.
These classes are also designed to prepare students for an exciting new opportunity at Lovegood. In January 2027, we will hold auditions to form two Lovegood improv teams. Those teams will continue training together and perform live improv shows for audiences later in the season.
No previous improv experience is required. Whether you are interested in auditioning for a team or simply want to become a more confident, collaborative, and spontaneous performer, this class is a great place to begin.

Classes
KIDZ On Stage | Ages 6-12 | Mondays, Sept. 7th - Nov. 16th | 5:00PM - 6:30PM
An introduction to musical theatre for our youngest budding artists. Students will practice skills such as vocal expression, character-building, and movement, in a fun and encouraging setting. This is a great first step into the world of theatre. An Exhibition performance on stage will conclude the Fall Term.
Mainstage Musical (Ages 8+)
As a performing arts organization, we have a variety of ways to present the culmination of our collective talents. Our Mainstage Productions are the bellwether of what we do here and allow for all the pieces to be put together into an intentional and professional production. For those who are in our community already, it is usually the next step after taking classes for a season or two. It’s also an opportunity for newcomers who have some stage experience to join us for a show.
In addition to having a great time telling stories that are inspiring, exceptional, and compelling; it’s also a fantastic way to make friends for a lifetime. We truly believe in community here and aim to set our performers, technicians, and families up for a remarkable experience in accomplishing something that is bigger than ourselves. We typically do three Mainstage Musical Productions a year.
Mainstage Audition Eligibility:
Building a Stronger, More Connected Lovegood Community
Anyone wishing to audition for a Lovegood Mainstage production must have participated in at least one Lovegood class, workshop, or Mainstage within the previous 12 months, and/or have instructed or volunteered for a class or production.
This is not meant to limit participation—it’s meant to set every performer up for success. Having even one shared experience with Lovegood ensures:
Stronger ensemble cohesion from day one
A safer environment for our all-ages casts
Greater confidence for our casting teams
A smoother, more joyful rehearsal process for everyone
Most importantly, it invites new performers to step into our community first, get to know us, and be known. It also will create and foster avenues to continue to learn and hone their craft. Whether through a short workshop, a seasonal class, teaching, volunteering or another performance opportunity, there are many ways to connect before auditioning for a mainstage.
This prerequisite helps us uphold the culture that makes Lovegood special—one built on belonging, integrity, and collaboration—while still welcoming new artists into the fold in meaningful and supportive ways. This helps to ensure that we are promoting Theatre at Every Stage.
We can’t wait to continue building beautiful stories together.
